However, some pieces of police equipment like a gun belt will be part of their duty equipment most of the time. Officers assigned to crime investigation, riot control, or just routine patrol and guarding, may require a gun belt to stash his equipment. Not only is it used to carry and store the officers duty weapon, but also provides away for the officers to keep other items handy for immediate use as needed. Handcuffs, pepper spray, additional ammo, flashlight, stun gun, police radio, and baton may also be attached to the duty belt.
